Working Together

Initial Consultation

I offer a free 20-minute phone call. The aim of this initial conversation is to help you decide if you feel comfortable with me and provides an opportunity for you to ask any questions you might have about the therapeutic process, get a sense of my approach and how I work, and discuss practical matters like session times and fees.

Integrative Counselling for Individuals

My integrative approach combines two main therapeutic approaches, which I tailor to best suit your unique needs. At the core, my approach is person-centred, which puts you at the centre of our work together. I also draw on the Humanistic approach which emphasises your inherent capacity for growth and self-understanding, and the Psychodynamic approach, to help you understand how past experiences and attachment styles influence your present way of being. I also incorporate somatic practices to enhance self-awareness and emotional regulation, and to work towards the embodiment of new ways of being.

By bringing together these approaches I provide a flexible, personalised therapy experience. We'll work together to holistically address your whole self – thoughts, feelings, emotions, and behaviours.

Whether you're feeling stuck, or experiencing anxiety, depression, or relationship issues, this integrative method can help you gain deeper insights, develop effective coping strategies, and foster meaningful personal growth.

Integrative Counselling for Organisations

Organisations of all sizes can benefit from supporting their employees' mental health and wellbeing. As a counsellor with vast experience in both organisations and the mental health sector, I offer tailored services to help your team thrive.

I've worked with small companies to provide in-house counselling services, offering short-term solution focussed therapy, or long-term counselling packages for employees. This in-person, face-to-face counselling allows for a personal touch that can make a significant difference in employee wellbeing.

I also offer bespoke workshops to address the variety of challenges faced in the workplace. I consult with you to design and deliver employee wellbeing and mental health awareness workshops, on subjects ranging from stress and overwhelm, to anxiety, and resilience.

Whether you're aiming to boost employee engagement, reduce burnout, or cultivate a more positive work culture, I can help. By supporting your teams’ mental health and emotional needs, you can foster a more resilient, productive, and harmonious work environment.

FAQs

How do I know if I need counselling?

There's no strict rule for when to seek counselling, but some signs it might be helpful include: feeling overwhelmed by your emotions or life circumstances; struggling with relationships or communication; experiencing significant changes or transitions in life; dealing with trauma or loss; finding it hard to cope with daily tasks or responsibilities; noticing patterns of behaviour you'd like to change; or feeling stuck or unsure about your direction in life. If you're questioning whether counselling might help, it's often worth exploring. Many people find benefit in having a safe space to discuss their thoughts and feelings, even if they're not in crisis.

What can I expect in my first session?

Your first session is about us getting to know each other. We'll discuss what brings you to counselling, your goals, and how we might work together. It's also your opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

How long does counselling typically last?

The duration varies for each individual. Some find benefit in short-term therapy (6-12 sessions), while others prefer longer-term (open-ended) support. We'll regularly review your progress and adjust as needed.

Is what I say in counselling confidential?

Yes, our sessions are confidential. The only exceptions are if there's a risk of harm to yourself or others, or if required by law. I'll always discuss these limits with you in your first session, and you can ask me about this at any time.

How often will we meet?

Most clients attend weekly sessions, but we can adjust the frequency based on your needs and circumstances.

What if I need to cancel a session?

I ask for 48 hours' notice for cancellations.

How do I know if counselling is working?

Progress in therapy can look different for everyone. We'll regularly check in on how you're feeling. Often, clients notice gradual changes in their thoughts, feelings, or behaviours, or improved relationships with others.
